DIY Oven Repair Tips
If your oven isn’t working, before you call for an oven repair, you might want to try these DIY oven repair tips first.
If your oven won’t turn on, check to be sure it’s receiving power. You can reset the oven’s circuit breaker by turning it to the off position, waiting 30 seconds, and then turning it back to the on position. If your home has fuses instead of circuit breakers, make sure the fuses are tighten and securely in place. You should also check to ensure that no fuses have blown. If you find one has, replace it. Otherwise, if they aren’t blown, unscrew the fuses that supply the oven, wait thirty seconds and then screw them back into place.
If you have a gas oven, be sure there is gas running to it. Try turning on a burner, such as the broil burner. If the burner lights then there is gas coming to the unit, if not check that the main gas shut off value is in the on position.
Another suggestion to try before you call an oven repair company would be to set the clock before you try to turn it on. Sounds silly, but some ovens require the clock to be set in order to start. So, set it and then try turning it on again.
